Scott Whipp from Phigenics is joined by Gary Milewski and John Kees of Novant Health for “Managing the Quality and Sustainability of Water Streams With Multi-Team Collaboration.” Gary and John lead attendees through the evolution of their water management program across their enterprise. The team shares lessons learned through strong collaboration within a Water Management Team (WMT) at the corporate and site levels, and what it means to have a well-defined water management program. These lessons include collaborative efforts between WMTs, proactive alignment with regulatory drivers by addressing emerging/opportunistic pathogens, and increasing defensibility through updated verification and validation strategies.

Scott Whipp
Enterprise Business Development Manager
specializes in helping clients develop and implement comprehensive and defensible water management programs that achieve regulatory compliance (CMS 17-30 and ASHRAE Standard 188), prevent disease and injury from Legionella, improve water and energy efficiency, optimize total cost, and ensuring the program is operational. He had 21 years of experience with Nalco Chemical Company, including 14 years in the Global Business Unit Environmental Hygiene, which helped clients manage and reduce risk.
John Kees
Director of Infection Prevention
John is a CIC certified infection preventionist that has been working in the field of Infection Prevention for over 20 years. He started his infection prevention journey in the community health setting, providing HIV education and testing to high-risk women and children. He also has experience in infection prevention in the acute care setting as well as providing clinical consulting to hospitals across the United States in the utilization of electronic surveillance. Currently, he is the Director of Infection Prevention for the Greater Charlotte Market with Novant Health.
Gary Milewski
Corporate Manager of Plant Engineering, Compliance
Gary has 30+ years of professional experience in facilities management, safety management, disaster preparedness, and loss prevention. His expertise includes safety and hazardous materials management, life safety compliance, disaster planning, employee education, and engineering controls for hazards inherent to the healthcare industry. Currently, he is Novant’s Corporate Engineering Compliance Manager. His career has covered operational responsibilities with Forsyth Medical Center, Memorial Health University Medical Center, and Duke Raleigh Hospital.
